setting: present day detroit, michigan.
character idea: RACHEL is a veteran homicide detective working the tough streets of detroit. her latest case has proved to be most difficult to solve. well past the forty-eight hours mark, she and her partner have no viable leads and the case threatens to go cold. nobody wants to speak on behalf of the double murder of two teenagers. out of the blue, a tip comes in from an anonymous caller. the tip manages to revive the case from its dreary demise. RACHEL and her partner are soon pulled into a world of ubiquitous drugs, unrequited love, and unbridled rage. their anonymous tipster is forced to come out of the woodwork, and their identity will prove vital to solving the case. can they nab their suspects before they flee the city, or will they find even bigger trouble the more they dig into the case?
alternate universe: in 2015, the first women chosen to board a virginia-class submarine will set a united states precedent. RACHEL has shown much promise through hard work and her rapier wit. her training has culminated into this very moment; she will not squander it. RACHEL feels she can handle the pressure, and especially handle any colleagues that will try to rile her up. six months is a long time to serve inside a submarine, but she’s ready to make the most of the underwater journey.
setting: present day greenwich, connecticut.
character idea: are ghosts real? OSRIC and his friends decide that they want real, concrete proof. they’re also really drunk and otherwise incapable of thinking clearly when they drag out a camcorder and head over to the rumored haunted house down the road. eerie noises and creepy, written messages sober the group of friends instantly. as they start to bail on the plan, OSRIC falls through some rotting wood and gets himself trapped but unhurt. bad luck, perhaps? his friends attempt to pry the door to the basement open, but something sinister is lurking on OSRIC’s side of the door. he doesn’t want to stick around to find out what its intentions are, but daylight is far from sight…
alternate universe: college freshman OSRIC is coping with his new-found freedom and long classes. new professors, new people, and new parties are part of the routine. he’s has yet to find what he’s looking for, but he’s a curious spirit. OSRIC eventually joins the school’s coffeehouse; it turns out he’s a fairly good poet. he’s even garnered a rapport with his peers, including the girl with the pixie cut and expressive hazel eyes.
Johanna is incredibly perceptive, sarcastic and brash. She speaks her mind, regardless of the consequences, or who she hurts. While Johanna has a very hard exterior, she definitely understands the greater good of the districts and would lay down her life for freedom.
